Transbay Block 2 West Senior Building
The Transbay Block 2 West Senior Building, now known as Philip C. Chin Commons, is a nine-story, 109,650-square-foot affordable housing development in San Francisco’s East Cut neighborhood. The building provides 151 studio and one-bedroom apartments, supportive resident services, community gathering spaces, a courtyard garden, a sixth-floor roof deck, and approximately 3,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
Located near Salesforce Park and the Salesforce Transit Center, the project is part of a larger intergenerational community that includes an adjacent affordable family housing development. A shared pedestrian mews connects the two buildings, encouraging interaction among residents and the surrounding community.
TEE was proud to be the electrical engineer of record for this project working closely in conjunction with their design build trade partner Sierra Electric and Swinerton Builders. This project marks Chinatown Community Development Center’s largest senior housing development in 25 years.
