Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of The Engineering Enterprise, Chuck Shalley has over forty years of experience as Principal-In-Charge, Project Manager and Project Engineer on a vast array of commercial office, convention, industrial, institutional, laboratory and data center/mission critical facilities. His ability to steward exceedingly large and complex engineering projects has made him one the industry’s prime resources for the design of complicated, redundant power distribution systems. Mr. Shalley has an extensive and unparalleled background in the design of large capacity power distribution, uninterruptible power, emergency power and building/equipment monitoring systems.
Brian Smith joined The Engineering Enterprise in 1978, was appointed a Principal of the firm in 1989 and was named President of the company in 2001. Mr. Smith has thirty-three years experience in the design and management of a wide variety of low-rise and high-rise commercial office, educational, governmental, industrial and institutional projects. His vast experience in the design of higher education facilities for the University of California and the California State University System incorporates creative design solutions related to the power distribution, life safety, security and communication/signal distribution systems. Mr. Smith's extensive background allows him to oversee the electrical design for any size or type of project.
Richard Kenney has been a Principal-in-Charge at The Engineering Enterprise since 1976. With over forty years experience in engineering and project management, Mr. Kenney is an industry expert in the design of large scale healthcare, detention, industrial and laboratory facilities that specifically incorporate complex emergency back-up power systems. Over his career, Mr. Kenney has also developed a unique knowledge of cutting edge technology related to specialty signal/communication systems including nurse call, CCTV, MATV, paging, fire alarm, door control and security. This vast experience allows him to efficiently design large, complicated electrical systems for all types of projects.
Jon Friedman joined The Engineering Enterprise in 1994 and was appointed a Principal of the firm in 2004. Mr. Friedman grew up working in the construction industry and after graduating from college with a business degree, joined TEE as an electrical designer with the goal of expanding his knowledge of the construction process. After working as an electrical designer on a variety of large commercial office, healthcare, higher education and data center/mission critical projects, he transitioned over to the business side of the company to take on the role of Business Manager. Mr. Friedman now oversees the day to day business operations of The Engineering Enterprise.
Scott Wheeler joined The Engineering Enterprise in 1994, opened TEE’s Sacramento Area office in 2000 and was appointed a Principal of the firm in 2001. Mr. Wheeler began his career as a field electrician working on a variety of commercial and light industrial projects. This early field experience helped him apply a practical approach to the engineering design process. Mr. Wheeler’s background and knowledge of power distribution, lighting and life safety systems has allowed him to bring a broad skill set to a wide variety of project types including commercial office, K-12 schools, higher education, healthcare and data center/mission critical. In 2002, Mr. Wheeler was among the first group of industry professionals to pass the USGBC exam and become a LEED Accredited Professional.
Kristina Martin joined The Engineering Enterprise in 1989 and was appointed a Principal of the firm in 2000. Ms. Martin has been credited with a long list of successful, high profile healthcare, government, hospitality and educational projects including the award winning Moscone West Convention Center. Besides being a PE, Ms. Martin also holds a Lighting Certification (LC) and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Her background in lighting, sustainable design and her degree in Architectural Engineering gives her the rare ability to approach each project with an unsurpassed detail in engineering and systems coordination while maintaining a cutting edge creativity in lighting and interior design. Ms. Martin enjoys working closely with Architects, Owners and design professionals to create beautifully illuminated, energy conscious and cost effective buildings.
Leonard King joined The Engineering Enterprise in 2004 and was appointed a Principal of the firm in 2007. Mr. King spent twenty-three years working in the Sacramento area as an electrical consultant, design-build electrical engineer, construction project manager, and branch manager for an electrical construction firm. Mr. King’s vast experience encompasses all aspects of electrical engineering, construction, and studies relating to electrical systems in commercial buildings, industrial plants, and public utilities. He has spent over fifteen years working on the contractor side of the business focusing on design-build projects. The knowledge Mr. King has gained as a contractor allows him to bring an in-depth understanding of constructability to the electrical design process.
MISSION
Founded in 1974, The Engineering Enterprise (TEE) immediately established itself as an industry leader in progressive, forward thinking design. Our team of electrical engineers and lighting designers offer extensive expertise in a wide range of sectors including high rise office buildings, educational facilities, transportation, hospitality & healthcare, theater & performing arts, data centers, detention facilities and convention centers. Our projects can be found in locations throughout the world from The Bay Area to the Middle East.
The collective diversity of our designers within our two offices maintain TEE’s position at the forefront of sustainable “green” design, and in the research and application of new technologies. We strive to accommodate the individual needs of our clients on a project by project basis, designs that are technically sound, innovative, cost-effective and always completed on schedule.
The value of a firm's service lies in its technical qualifications, its professional conduct and its standing within the engineering and lighting design professions. We believe that The Engineering Enterprise is best measured by these standards. Our solid background of accomplishment and reputation for dependability and are well known and respected by our clients.
